🎶🌈 Learning Through Music! 🌈🎶 Today in music class, our Cubs were Engaged Citizens as we learned about the incredible life and legacy of Dolly Parton! 💕🎤 Through the book Dolly!, students learned about Dolly’s life and the lasting mark she has made on the world through her music, kindness, generosity, and empathetic spirit. 💗 We listened to 🎵 Coat of Many Colors and then got creative by coloring our very own coats! 🌈🖍️ Students were reminded that it’s not what we have on the outside that matters most—it’s the love and kindness we carry on the inside. ❤️ What a beautiful way to Love. 📚💙 Our Class Is a Family! 💙📚 Mrs. White’s and Mrs. Shepherd’s Cubs read Our Class Is a Family and celebrated what makes their classroom community so special by making friendship bracelets! 🧵✨ As Active Collaborators and Engaged Citizens, students talked about kindness, belonging, and how we can support one another. 🤝💛 Each bracelet included meaningful bead colors: 🔴 Red: Be kind 🟠 Orange: Be respectful 🟡 Yellow: Be yourself 🟢 Green: Be different 🔵 Blue: Stick together 🟣 Purple: Make memories Each bracelet was a little reminder that we are stronger when we learn and grow together! We love building classrooms where every Cub feels valued, connected, and ready to love, learn, and lead! 🐾🌟

🪱🛟 Can We Save Fred?! 🛟🪱 Mrs. Blackburn’s class took on a STEM challenge with one important mission: SAVE FRED! 🚨🪱 Students worked together to rescue Fred the worm, using teamwork, cooperation, and problem-solving skills to figure out the best way to complete the challenge. 💡🤝 This hands-on activity was about so much more than saving a worm! It helped our Cubs practice Active Collaboration and Problem Solving while learning how to communicate, cooperate, and work together toward a common goal. 🧠✨ Most importantly, our Cubs were building a stronger classroom community—learning that sometimes the best solutions happen when we work together! 💙🐾 Another fun way to love, learn, and lead at SCES! 🌟

🔬🌱 Exploring, Creating, and Solving in the STEAM Lab! 🌱🔬 It was a busy week in the SCES STEAM Lab! 💡 Our young scientists and innovators made observations, investigated plant structures, solved plant “patient” mysteries, and transformed ordinary sticks into imaginative creations. 🌿🩺🪵✨ Through every activity, our Cubs practiced curiosity, creativity, collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving—the heart of STEAM learning! They showed what it means to be Empowered Learners as they asked questions, explored new ideas, and worked together to find solutions. They also demonstrated the competencies of Problem Solvers, Effective Communicators, Collaborators, and Innovators as they observed carefully, shared ideas, designed creative solutions, and learned from one another. 💙🐻 We love watching our Cubs Love. Learn. Lead. through hands-on discovery and innovation! 🌟

📚🌭 Courage and Kindness in the Classroom! 🌭📚 Mrs. Abell’s and Mrs. Mooney’s Cubs listened to the story Spaghetti’s in a Hot Dog Bun: Having the Courage To Be Who You Are before enjoying their own snack! 🌭✨ The story reminded them about the importance of being courageous, staying true to themselves, and showing kindness to others. 💛 Our Cubs practiced being Empowered Learners as they listened, reflected, and connected the story’s message to their own lives. They also showed what it means to be Kind Leaders by thinking about how their words and actions can make a difference! 🌟 We love watching our Cubs Love. Learn. Lead.—with courage and kindness every day! 💙🐻

🎨🥔 Creativity in the Art Room! 🥔🎨 Mrs. White’s and Mrs. Shepherd’s Cubs had a blast creating in the art room with Ms. Pfeiffer! 🖍️✨ They started by drawing their very own Potato Head creations 🥔👀👂 and then got to let their imaginations take over during some free-drawing time! 🎨🖌️ This creative experience helped our Cubs practice being Empowered Learners as they made choices, explored their own ideas, and expressed themselves through art. They also put on their Problem Solver hats as they figured out how to bring their Potato Head designs to life! 💡🎨 We love watching our Cubs Love. Learn. Lead.—one creative idea at a time! 💙🐻

🏈 Friday Morning Football Fun! 🐻💙 We’re always excited to have our Spencer County High School Bears football team with us on Friday mornings to greet our SCES Cubs! 🐻💙 There’s no better way to start the day than with a little Bear pride and lots of smiles! 🙌 Wishing our Bears an amazing season! Congratulations to Ashley Phillips of Spencer County Elementary!

Ashley has been selected as a recipient of the 2026 KSCA School Counseling Program Award — an incredible honor recognizing Kentucky school counselors who are developing comprehensive counseling programs that make a meaningful difference in the lives of students.

Only five school counselors across Kentucky were selected for this prestigious award for the 2026–2027 school year!

As part of the award, Spencer County Elementary will receive $300 to support its comprehensive school counseling program and provide materials and supplies that benefit our students.

Ashley will also be recognized at the KSCA Awards Luncheon on September 11 during the 2026 KSCA Conference.

We are so proud of you, Ashley! Your dedication to supporting the academic, career, and social/emotional growth of our students is truly making a difference.

Our SCES Backpack Buddy program is ready to help make weekends a little easier for our Cubs and their families! 🐻💙

Through Backpack Buddy, students can receive a bag of food to take home each Friday, helping provide enough food to cover the weekend. 🍎🥛🥣
