🦇✨ Batty for Learning! ✨🦇 Mrs. Dill’s 1st graders had a spooktacular week learning all about bats! 🌙📚 They even worked in the dark — just like a real cave! 🕯️🪨 To make it even more special, some awesome 5th graders stopped by to read a book they were studying in their small group. 💙 Next week, these curious Cubs will wrap up their bat unit by creating their own mini research projects — showing off their skills as Empowered Learners and Active Collaborators! 🐻💡 At SCES, we Love. Ms. Coots’ 4th graders were in the writing kitchen today cooking up something SWEET 🍭🐻 They usually do a 5-paragraph essay… but today they said “fiiivve?? nah… we’re going SIXXX… maybe even a SEVVVEENNN 😤🔥” Because when SCES is Sweet… the paragraphs come in extra scoops like ice cream 🍦😂

Spencer County Community;

We are dealing with a Water Main break on Highway 44 that has affected both SCES and SCMS. Unfortunately, the repair may be prolonged and we don’t feel that having school for a full day is possible. As a result, we will be dismissing early today, Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

We will release at the following times:
Spencer County High School, Hillview Academy, and Spencer County Middle School will release at 1:00 PM
Spencer County Elementary School, Taylorsville Elementary School, and Preschool will release at 2:15 PM.
All after school programs at SCES and SCMS will be cancelled.

Please know this is a last resort and we apologize for any inconvenience caused to our families and our community.

🍎👩‍🍳 Apples + Science = Sweet Learning! 👩‍🍳🍎 Mrs. Mac’s class has been exploring the life cycle of an apple in science, and what better way to wrap up their learning than by making homemade applesauce together! 🥣🍏✨ Students measured, mixed, and followed each step of the recipe — showing off their skills as Active Collaborators and Problem Solvers along the way. 🙌🐻💡 At SCES, we Love. 🍎🌱 Apple Life Cycle Learning! 🌱🍎 Mrs. Dill’s and Mrs. Raymer’s 1st grade Cubs have been busy scientists, learning all about the life cycle of an apple! 🌳✨ After exploring each stage, they created their very own Apple Life Cycle books to show their learning. 📖👏 Our Cubs shined as Problem Solvers and Active Collaborators, working together to connect science to the world around them. 🐻💡 At SCES, we Love.
